Weddings With Style’s mission for Project Pink is to emphasize the importance and increase the awareness of breast cancer in both Men and Women. Weddings With Style is making Project Pink a priority by providing support for unfortunate victims of this devastating disease.
Breast cancer is taking its toll in America alone. Every 2 1/2 minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Every 12 minutes, a woman will lose her life from the disease. Breast cancer does not discriminate; it affects men as well as women, young as well as old. Thousands of young children a year will lose a parent to breast cancer, it has earned its reputation of being the number one killer of women between the ages of 15 and 54 who are diagnosed with the disease. Weddings With Style is supporting the efforts of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, headquartered in Portalnd, Oregon. Fran Hansen, the foundation’s Executive Director and co-founder, is making a difference in the lives of terminally ill breast cancer patients by granting memory-making wishes. The main objective of Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation is to grant wishes to people who have been diagnosed as terminal. The foundation is providing an opportunity for the family to share quality time together. Their hope is that every breast cancer patient with metastases and is terminal, will be comforted with the pleasure of having left his or her family a final beautiful memory that will be remembered for a lifetime.
How Brides Can Help
“Brides Against Breast Cancer” is the number one fund-raiser for the Making Memories Foundation. It all starts with a bride donating her wedding gown to the foundation. This allows brides-to-be an opportunity to attend a “Brides Against Breast Cancer” charity wedding gown sales event which is held in cities across the nation. Some of the gowns are new, name brand designer gowns that have been donated from bridal shops and manufacturers as well. It is a unique opportunity for brides-to-be to find gorgeous, new, or slightly used one-of-a-kind wedding gowns for the dress of their dreams at a much lower price. You can find a list of upcoming events and more details listed on this hyperlink on the Making Memories website: www.makingmemories.org

FAQ’s
How do I donate my Wedding Gown?
Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation has received gowns as old as 126 years and as new as from a cancelled wedding. Once received, the gowns are separated, cleaned, tagged, priced, and readied for an upcoming event. The foundation also accepts veils, slips, shoes, Mother's gowns and flower girl dresses.
Be sure when sending your gown to Making Memories to include a self addressed stamped envelope with your return address inside the package to ensure you receive a donation receipt. Making Memories asks if possible, to please include a $10 donation which will help with the cost of preparing the gown for sale. Although most gowns are sent to us cleaned, the pressing and steaming of the gown often takes up to an hour to complete. Gowns may also be donated during show hours at any “Brides Against Breast Cancer” event across the nation.
